About

Oregon Invention Convention is an initiative to bring invention education into Oregon schools and to celebrate the young inventors with a state-wide event.  In the 2016-2017 school year, we will a do a proof-of-concept at Ockley Green Middle School and Vestal K-8 in Portland, OR with 20 children from Grades 6 through 8 inventing and potentially sending 4 of these young inventors onto the 2017 National Invention Convention in Washington DC. We are now running our pilot program — with a few schools participating — some in Portland and hopefully in Beaverton, Hood River, Salem in the future.  . The schools participating in this pilot program are using curricula shared with us by the Connecticut Invention Convention.

Our first state Invention Convention will be held in the Spring 2017 in Portland.  Along with those schools that are part of the pilot program, we are reaching out across the state to include other Oregon schools that currently have invention education programs.  We want this state Invention Convention to truly represent as much of Oregon as possible.

Oregon Invention Convention is a 501(c)(3) affiliate of the non-profit STEMIE Coalition.
